Projects!

I can't believe I only have 3 more weeks of student teaching. It has been a great experience. I have learned a lot and I have grown in so many ways. This is an experience I will never forget. But I am ready to have my own classroom with my own students. This past week at school was crazy. On Wednesday I missed school because I had to drive to Utah to get my car registered, on Thursday we had a field trip to a rock quarry to learn about rocks, then Friday was filled with projects we had to get done - building sugar cube pyramids to display, creating ant tunnels for a science fair and finishing a writing sample for the principal. It was pure craziness, but we somehow got it all accomplished.
Our sugar cube pyramids are for Africa. Our school is doing a multicultural week, and our section is in charge of Africa. My second graders built sugar cubes and we did our names in hieroglyphics. Then next week we will visit each continent in different sections of our school. The ant tunnels are for a science fair in July. I have been doing an insect unit with them for the past month, and we have studied a lot about ants. We just finished our unit, so I wanted to get this project done and out of the way. They all worked so hard!

On our way to explore rocks!

Our whole class fit into this machines "hand!"
