I'm a grateful person. I have a lot to be grateful for - a happy marriage, a supportive husband, a good job, an opportunity to save money, health and safety. I'm especially grateful for the last two - health and safety. I've had quite the experience with these two.
First, health. Being a second grade teacher I'm around little sicknesses all day everyday. Little colds, sneezy kids, snotty kids, coughing kids... the list goes on. Luckily, I've become immuned to these illnesses. Starting at the beginning of October, one of my kids got the stomache flu. We luckily got him to the bathroom before vomit met our classroom carpet. Since that one kids had gotten the flu, every one of my kids has been hit with it, and some aren't so fast at getting to the bathroom. Some of my kids have gotten it two times!! It makes me really sad. I don't even remember the last time I had all 31 of my kids in class at one time. I've been greatly blessed to have not gotten this stomache flu. It seems to be still alive in the classroom, but I make sure to spray my classroom down and to clean the desks and pencils with clorox wipes. I continue to count my blessings everyday of good health!
Second, safety. Growing up, my family did a lot of traveling, from cars to planes from country to country. With all of our travels, we have been greatly blessed with safety. Nobody has been in a major accident. Now that I'm married, I continue to count safety as a blessing for both my husband and I. He travels to school everyday and I travel to "school" everday. I've seen countless numbers of accidents and voice my gratitude for my safety. One of those times was just this past week. It was about 7:45am and I was driving down a hill from where we live. We live up near the mountains, so there are lots of deer wandering around in peoples backyards and on the road. This particular morning lots of cars were slowed down and backed up behind a school bus. I was slowing down on the hill and looked out my window to the left. I saw a deer leaping right towards my car! I was freaking out and wondering if the deer were smart enough to go around my car, or if it was going to slam right into my car door. I was freaking out just a little! He got closer and closer and I didn't know what to do. Just as he approached my car, he changed his mind and shifted to the left a little and leapt right over the hood of my car - right in front of my windshield!! It was absolutely amazing. And I mouthed a word of gratitude for my safety and for such a miraculous sight!!! It made my day!!! It was amazing!
