Apron

I absolutley love being a teacher - especially in 2nd grade. It is such a fun age, and I can still sing and be corny with the kids. I think I have out done it and have done something completely cheesey - made an apron for class. This year I have a really wiggily group. My kids love to get up at any time and walk around the room. I usually allow my students to replace a broken pencil for a sharp pencil at the counters or get up to get a tissue. It seems that this group goes overboard with it and finds any reason to get a new pencil or tissue. I promise, as a teacher, I do do 5 minute energizers with my class. I've done them more in these past 2 weeks with them then I ever had with just one class. I decided to control the movement in my classroom. I am making a new procedure so that if kids need a new pencil, instead of getting up to go get it, I will bring them one from one of the pockets of my apron and take their broken one. Also, if they need a tissue, I will have a pocketful of tissues to hand them while I am teaching so they don't have to get up. And if they are doing so well, I have a pocket for tickets. I think it is way cute, but it might be a little cheesey. We will see what everyone says about it tomorrow. :) I have to thank my great mother for showing me how to use a sewing machine! Once she showed me the first stitch, I did all the rest by myself. I'm quite proud of myself.

That is so cute! I love how you staggered the pockets. What a brilliant idea! Did you come up with yourself? You'll have to explain what the tickets to the next time we talk.
